Fighting Poverty in Tanzania
Chris Cares International

Karibu!

Chris Cares, Inc. is a grassroots nonprofit organization with a volunteer staff working in Stoughton, Massachusetts and Arusha, Tanzania.

In Tanzania we spend our time witnessing poverty first hand. We work side by side with our local coordinates in Tanzania to insure that the neediest are our recipients. In 2009 we finished the building of St. Judas Thaddeus Catholic Church.

We are an international organization registered in Tanzania and the USA.

We are currently working with individuals in Tanzania who recycle paper into beautiful items, necklaces, rosary beads, earrings and 3" hand painted ornaments. Another group of women make beautiful hand beaded leather sandals and women who turn sweet grass into woven baskets. Individuals carve olive wood and ebony into household items and Masai women who work wonders with the seed bead.

We market their crafts both in Tanzania and in the United States to help our artisans support their families. We look forward to continuing this work in Tanzania and increasing the number of individuals served. We are helping many sustain a better today and tomorrow.

We are advocates of education and are raising funds to build a school three classrooms at a time. The School of St. Nicholas is scheduled to begin construction soon in the village of Olosiva in the Arusha region of Tanzania.

The School of St. Nicholas will provide 60 children a year an education. We are fighting poverty through education providing them with the tools they need to improve the lives of their families, villages and communities in the years to come.
