Chris Cares, Inc. is a grassroots non-profit organization with a volunteer staff working in Stoughton, Massachusetts and 3 paid staff in Tanzania.
We founded the School of St. Nicholas in the village of Moivaro, Arusha, Tanzania. In 2012 we began with twelve Kindergarten students immersing them in the English language. Today, we provide a 100% free, quality education, uniforms, shoes, back packs, books, pencils, games, and creative learning tools. We feed them breakfast daily, provide them with quarterly worm medication to keep those parasites away and daily vitamins. We hire educated and trained teachers and staff. We began the School of St. Nicholas to educate students in the Moivaro area of Arusha who could not afford school fees. The families of our students are poor...we hope to end the cycle of poverty for their families in the years to come. Without a school building, our students started coming to our living room to receive an education. The children enrolled in our school come everyday with eager anticipation! It is an academically challenging environment and the children are thriving! It is a blessing for us to be able to improve the futures of these children. One child at a time WE are making a huge difference in their lives, with your help we can do so much more! We currently have over 100 children on our waiting list! In 2013 our students will complete Kindergarten...so what will we do? We are building classrooms!! Our students are moving to grade one and a new Kindergarten class will begin! It is our hope to build a new classroom every year for the next twelve years to see our students through secondary school. It is an ambitious goal...and with your help we will achieve it. With every classroom comes a teacher's salary, 25 new students, daily meals, uniforms, shoes, pencils, books, computers and more. We are excited about the prospects!
